Summary:
The Materials Manager ensures the stocks of the company are managed; ensuring the accuracy of inventories in the system; maintains accurate inventory levels; ensuring enough stock is available to meet production requirements; processes parts through the facility according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities; designs inventory management systems that aid in streamlining the process; compiles and maintains manual or computerized records; track inventory turn performance and variances in inventory. Uses statistics to facilitate better planning as well as interpret variances and correct the problems that arise. Works in tandem with various departments and maintain flexible attitude supporting all work that helps in achieving organizational goals. Accountable for maintaining high levels of customer service, either internal or external. Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements and identifying overdue materials.

Duties:

  • Oversees team in the stocking and dispensing of items 
  • Ensures items received are compliant with the company’s quality standards
  • Notifies purchasing to order additional items as needed
  • Oversees inventory audits by directing subordinates to cycle and count inventory on a scheduled basis
  • Arranges stock for better access, counting stock to ensure accuracy of inventory levels and recommending disposal of items that may be outdated or no longer relevant
  • Establishes efficient check-in procedures, stock-picking procedure to include how one should take the stock, reporting of what had been taken, how much taken, and where the stock went
  • Coordinates various activities with the administrative and clerical support staff
  • Trains subordinates and supervise their work to ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures, policies, deadlines, and helps in resolving any issues
  • Has detailed discussion with the coworkers to help them identify actual problems and resolve them immediately so that they do not hamper the process
  • Responsible for evaluating the performance of subordinates
  • Interpret and explain in detail the policies of the organization and make sure that subordinates adhere to them
  • Coordinates damaged and defective inventory items ensuring it is accounted and handled properly via deposal, reconditioning or returned to the producing plant
  • Ensures that subordinates work towards achieving the objectives related to inventory management, follows GMPs and Hoist Liftruck safety rules/practices
  • Participate in company improvement programs such as Strategic Process Objectives, Safety Initiatives or Continuous Improvement Programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Must be able to work in a physically demanding role. The work involves long hours of standing, bending, stooping, kneeing, walking, and reaching. Heavy lifting up to 75lbs required
  • Ability to multi-task, detail oriented with strong Project Management skills
  • Advanced math and computer skills are necessary. Knowledge of the inventory database used is desired, but may learn this on the job
  • Strong Leadership skills, follow-up, and time management skills
  • Understand and practices GMP’s and safety procedures
