Hoist Material Handling participated in the 6th annual ABC 7 Great Chicago Blood Drive this January. This year, the blood drive took place at four locations – the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, The Drake Hotel in Oak Brook, the Sullivan Community Center in Vernon Hills and the Performing Arts Center in Munster, Indiana. Our team donated blood and volunteered at the Merchandise Mart and Performing Arts Center locations. In fact, one of our very own associates was the first unit of donated blood of the day at the Munster location.
This event is the largest one-day Red Cross blood drive in the country, which coincides with January as National Blood Donor Month. From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., our team, along with dozens of other hardworking volunteers, helped collect 1,866 units of blood. Each unit of blood can help save three lives, so these donors gave a lifesaving chance for 5,838 people.
Hoist was one of the main sponsors at the Munster location, where a few of our associates were also interviewed by WJOB Radio about our partnership with the Red Cross. This event was a huge success, and we are so grateful for our partnership with the American Red Cross.
